Singer 301 Slant Needle "Featherweight" aluminum sewing machine - Only 16 lbs - with lightweight Travel Case, foot control, and power cord. This machine is pristine and in excellent sewing condition and ideal for quilters, Serial Number - NA172008 manufactured in 1951. The 301 is called "The Big Sister of the Featherweight" because its aluminum body makes it much easier to carry than other vintage Singers of that era. It also uses the same bobbin case and bobbins as the Featherweight. It sews with the same beautiful, straight stitch as its little sister. There is a lot more strength in a 301 than a Featherweight, however. It has a slant shank, which improves the feed. For a few extra pounds, the ability to sew denim, lightweight leather, and upholstery fabric is gained. It handles quilting tasks easily because the feed dogs will drop for free motion quilting. A nice fold-up handle right on the body of the machine makes it easy to pick up and move. This machine incorporates a smooth gear drive, powerful motor, and "slant-needle" design which provides better visibility of the work area. It was designed to be both a cabinet (or table) and portable machine in one and is easily converted, especially with the flip-up carrying handle. This is a heavy-duty, mocha-colored home-style machine that will sew all sorts of fabrics and do an endless variety of sewing tasks. It has 'Industrial-strength' piercing power and will sew many layers of heavy fabrics. It is a pretty straightforward machine and runs like a champ at high speeds. The serial number on this machine is NA172008, made in 1951. The foot pedal and cords are in fine condition and the machine runs very well and operates nicely and smoothly. The rubber feet on the bottom still look brand new. It is a beautiful, clean, sewing machine in perfect working order and is without damage. On the front bottom face, the finish is scratched left and right where this machine was once used in a cabinet. This Includes its original 301 manual, foot control with new power cord, the original accessories in their box, and a Singer leather-bound trapezoid case.
